How you can be a wildlife hero
We are so grateful to all the volunteers and sponsors who help us make Matakohe Limestone Island such a special place. Together, we can protect and nurture our native flora and fauna and create a legacy of sustainability and community engagement.
Join us as a volunteer
Keeping the island in good shape requires a lot of work. We have a fantastic team of volunteers and we always welcome additional help. Some of the tasks on the island that we regularly need help with include weeding, seedling plant translocation, pruning vegetation on the tracks, baiting traps, repairing signs, seats and tracks, and rubbish collecting from the foreshore. If you can spare some time and have skills, experience, or talents you would like to offer on a voluntary basis, FOMLI would love to hear from you.
